Visiting with friends

This past month we have had a lot of play dates and visits from friends.

Anna and Cora came to visit from Montana!  Peter is infatuated with the overhead fans in this picture

Grandma Kathy drove down to Cottage Grove with us when we met up with Cora and Anna.  Grandma took the opportunity to start teaching me how to drive.  I was way more interested in the rain on the sunroof though.

We went to Bend with our friend Hillary and mommy and daddy got to hot tub while I took a 2hr nap in my car seat!

The mountain air put me right to sleep.

Then we went on a hike to Benam Falls

My buddy Jackson and I went swimming later that weekend.  It was really loud in the pool, but we survived.

Great Grandma time!

My grandma came down this last week to visit Peter.  I love watching Peter with her.  He is such a happy baby.  I am also so inspired by my grandma - she is so active and healthy.  She insisted on getting down on the ground so she could get down and play with Peter.  So cute.  He loved it.

I love playing with great grandma!

Check out my cool ball great gradnma!

Still teething......no teeth yet
Wearing my carharts, just like dad!

Love my astronaut/flier jacket from the Diroll's!

Look out Tom Cruise

Life is good when all my grandmas and grandpas are here - what a lucky kid

Swimming!

Peter is now 8.5mo old.  We took him to Tamarack pool and he got to swim with Aleta, Jason and their daughter Della and a new friend Aubrey.  We had a great time!  Peter went under the water and did great.  We also learned a great trick from Aleta about putting babes under the water - so listen up new parents.  Instead of just dunking them straight down, move them forward in the water as you bring them under.  Peter seemed to tolerate it a LOT better when we did that.

Peter is 8 months old!

Today Peter turned 8months old.  AMAZING.  He is getting so big.  I was just thinking this morning that my L biceps is getting so achey from carrying him around!  Definitely need to start switching up the arms.  I took him to get weighed today and he was 19lbs 15.5oz - so let's just call it 20lbs.  Holy smokes!  He is so fun - becoming more interactive, aware, and interested in everything.  He is a little wary of new environments, or environments that he doesn't remember.  And he is definitely exhibiting some mama separation issues.    He sits like a champ and is now officially rolling from his back --> tummy in addition to tummy -->back (which he only does to his R though).  He likes to "stand" when supported, but hasn't pulled himself up or crawled yet.  He's got a lot of torso to move around!
8mo today!  Wednesday is daddy's afternoon.  We got go on a walk around the neighborhood, swing in my new swing and eat broccoli

Me and my favorite ball (thanks grandma Kathy)

I love bath time!

Gimme that frog

Easter egg scavenger hunt at the cabin

I woke up just in time from my nap to go hunt for eggs with my mom and dad

Daddy and grandpa Jay set up my new swing set (courtesy of Kyle, Lilly and Natalie)

It's still a little big, but I love it!

Daddy's birthday!

It was Jake's birthday today so we headed up Santiam Pass and went snowshoeing!

We found a neat little creek (behind us)

Examining the snow - he wasn't sure what to think.

When we got home we walked to Tugman park and took Peter on the swings!  We are excited to set up the swing set in our backyard (that Kyle and his girls so nicely gave us/handed down).

Wee!!
Cool adirondack chairs that Jay made for Jake (or for Peter........and I'm guessing a buddy or another sibling - ok, we get the hint ;o)

Daddy, I think this chair fits me better than you.

7 months

We met up with Ashley Reich and had some more photos taken.  To be expected, as soon as the "big camera" came out, Peter curled his lips and did his best to avoid smiling.  It's pretty funny.  He's such a smiley kid, and then it's as if he is protesting. She did catch a few good smiles though.

At 7mo. Peter is sitting up really well and only occasionally topples backwards.  He's actually a week away from 8mo (as Im writing this) so keep that in mind.  He is starting to move from sitting to his tummy, but no quadruped yet (hands/knees).  He is enjoying solid food more - likes oatmeal, banana, avocado, sweet potatoes and peas.  Carrots and broccoli are ok - but I think it's more related to him getting used to a different texture.  I'm using a little cuisinart to blend stuff up for him.  We tried some applesauce but he wasn't quite ready for the "tartness" and wasn't a big fan the first time.  We'll try it again soon!  We have this cool "mesh teether" thing that we can put frozen peas or a piece of apple in and he loves to chew on it.  He was sleeping pretty well, only waking ~2x per night, but he got a cold about 2-3wks ago and now he's been waking up more frequently.  Ay!  Last night was much better, so I'm hoping it's a trend in the right direction.  He has the best giggle right now and loves to be kissed and tickled.  He seems to like looking at photos of people and always smiles.  He has discovered how to blow "raspberries" with his mouth (or make fart noises for those of you that don't know what I'm talking about).  It's pretty hilarious.  He seems to get a kick of doing it and tends to do it more when he is tired/frustrated.

Other than that - he is amazing, happy and Jake and I are still in heaven.  Heaven where you don't sleep much, but heaven nonetheless.
